Feb 20, 2011

img-3074.jpgFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: The first ever Art & Cigars event was held at the Montecristo Lounge of Hollywood, Florida on Friday February 18, 2011, featuring "ONE HUNDRED" photographs by John Gillan.

Hollywood, Florida - Montecristo Lounge of Hollywood hosted the first in a series of  monthly Art & Cigars exhibits. The evening brought together an exciting group of art enthusiasts and cigar aficionados. Photographer John Gillan was there to meet the guests and talk about his five year documentation of individuals ranging in age from 100 to 120 years old. The crowd was impressed by Gillan's large scale black and white portraits and inspired by the anecdotes and quotes that were collected from each person when they were interviewed.

" I created this out of love for family, for traditions that used to be there and aren't anymore. My hope is for people to walk away with one thought, to call their grandparents and take them out to dinner." says John Gillan

The event attracted many new patrons to the city of Hollywood who enhanced their evening by checking out the local restaurants. Many had not been to the downtown area in years and were impressed by the dining experience and the activity on Harrison Street.

“Our goal as a local and striving business is to demonstrate that local businesses are ready to welcome visitors with open arms,“ says owner Ana Cuenca.

The exhibit will be on display until March 18, 2011 and can be viewed by appointment .
The Montecristo Lounge is located at 1928 Harrison Street, Suite A in Hollywood, FL. 33020
