Posted by Ana Cuenca on Jul 21, 2022

Did you know that people have been enjoying cigars since the 10th century? Of course, the art of creating cigars has advanced since then. Today, we have all sorts of cigars from different parts of the world available on the market.

However, when it comes to rare cigars and limited editions cigars, there is a bit more effort involved when trying to get your hands on them. More than that, how can you ever hope to find the very best rare and hard-to-find cigars? How can you know that you're buying a premium cigar in the first place?

Fortunately, when you buy Macanudo Inspirado Jamao, Excalibur Illusione, and Weller by Cohiba, you can be sure that you're paying for quality products. Weller cigars are particularly special for their unique aroma, taste, and structure. Keep reading and learn more about this delicious cigar below.

What You Need to Know About Weller by Cohiba

Cohiba has been around for a long time and it is a well-known and respected name in the cigar industry. It is also known for producing high-quality cigars. When it comes to Weller cigars, you should know that they are true Honduras cigars and certainly make a great departure from the best Dominican cigars.

The measurements of this cigar are 6 1/2 x 50 which is a Traditional Toro Size. So, it isn't too large but isn't too small either, although it certainly leans on the larger side of cigars. Because of its larger size, you can expect to smoke this cigar for quite a long time, perhaps an hour or more.

The wrapper for this cigar is not a traditional maduro wrapper but rather a Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper. This kind of wrapper comes from the very top of the tobacco plant and, as a result, this kind of leaf gets the most sun exposure. As a result, a Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper is known for being one of the strongest cigar wrappers around.

The Details

Again, Weller is not a cigar for beginners but rather for those looking to try a strong and intense cigar. If you buy this cigar, you'll find that great care is taken when it comes to hand-rolling and packaging them. These cigars usually come in boxes of 10 cigars each, wrapped in a glass tube with a unique and distinctive flavor profile coming from Weller Tobacco Profile: USA Broadleaf - Aged in Weller Bourbon Barrels and Piloto Cubano, Honduran Jamastran, Honduran La Estrada, Honduran OSA, Nicaragua Esteli Ligero and Viso.

Each of these cigars comes in its own individual glass tubes. The glass helps seal the smell and potency of the tobacco and the aroma inside the cigar. Also, keep in mind that the Weller cigar is the result of a cigar collaboration between Cohiba and a liquor company, specifically Sazerac.

After all, what goes better with a good cigar than a good glass of liquor? However, what should you expect when you smoke a Weller by Cohiba cigar for the first time? What is the aroma like?

What about the color and taste?

What to Expect When Smoking a Weller by Cohiba Cigar

The first thing you will notice about this cigar is its darker color. Compared to other types of cigars, it is very dark due to the ligero leaves used for the wrapper. The darkness of the wrapper is exemplified by the light-colored band around the cigar. The wrapper itself is more or less smooth, although you might find some small deviations such as veins throughout.

You will also notice that the ligero wrapper is somewhat oily compared to cigars wrapped with other types of leaves. The wrapper itself won't smell like much, although the faint smell it does release may remind you of leather. As for the flavor, the Weller cigar will certainly take you on a rollercoaster ride.

When you first smoke this cigar, you will immediately pick up very strong and earthy hints. The most overpowering flavors and aromas are those of cedar, granola, and even raisins. However, don't mistake this cigar for one that is too overpowering to enjoy.

Smells and Flavors

Beyond those flavors and smells, there is a lot of sweetness. In particular, you will detect some hints of dried fruits and even cream. But what about the quality of the smoke? Weller cigars are constructed in a very professional way by highly skilled hand-rollers, and you can see that just by looking at one.

The entire cigar is quite even and balanced. When you light it, you will find that the smoke will burn quite evenly throughout the entire cigar.

As for the finish, you will experience all sorts of flavors and aromas that are different compared to smoking the cigar for the first time. This distinction is coming by the infused Weller Bourbon.

Usually, the finish of a Weller cigar is a unique mix of earthy and fruity flavors. You are sure to pick out hints of cedar, pepper, and leather. Contrastingly, you'll also detect cranberries, white pepper, and even herbs.
