    A Little Old/New School...Going Retro with the GR88

Posted by Jay Strickroth on Sep 06, 2018

Warped & Kyle Gellis have brought out another outstanding cigar that compliments their portfolio in a marvelous way. Fans of the Maestro De Tiempo, Futuera, and Guardian of the Farm are in store for something completely different, but in a marvelous way. The cigar I had was the first out of the box upon shipment and it didn't disappoint. A very medium bodied smoke that on the surface isn't their most complex but offers an excellent experience from start to finish. The flavors are old school, with little spice, but last perfectly from one draw to the next. Smoke output is very good and while cubanesque in its demeanor the notes are all modern day Warped. For those looking for a cigar that one can enjoy anytime of the day, before or after a meal, invest in a box. The tobacco is really mature and smooth as silk. Staring at the nub, I am inclined to light another right away. Cant wait to see how these improve after acclimating to my settings. If I had to compare this cigar to anything, it sorta reminds of the Cuban Upmann Petits (JFK's favorite)with a classic tobacco profile with far better notes. Simply classic in design. Well done Mr. KG...may have surpassed the La Hacienda as my favorite!
