Last month, October 24 we had a Big Birthday Blast for Cuenca. That night was going on when we received a very special phone call telling us that Mr. Carlitos Fuente, Jr. was joining us for the party. I actually asked him to come but in reality, knowing his busy schedule was most certain he could not make it. It was an amazing surprise and we truly had a blast. Carlitos Fuente Jr, mingle with all our customers. It was really the most fun ever night! Thanks Carlitos for your surprise visit! Thanks to all our customers for being part of our big family.

Carlitos Fuente Jr. is one of the most recognized faces in the world of cigars. The 51-year-old president of Tabacalera A. Fuente y Cia. is a passionate cigar maker who finds inspiration in breaking new ground in the cigar business. He and his father, Carlos Sr., revived the perfecto shape with their immensely popular Hemingway series of cigars and drove the demand for full-flavored smokes with their creation of the Fuente Fuente OpusX, the first successful cigar to be made with a Cuban-seed wrapper grown under shade in the Dominican Republic.

Carlos "Carlito" Fuente Jr. of the Arturo Fuente Cigar Co. along with his father Carlos Fuente Sr. is of Cuban heritage and considered one of if not THE most successful Cigar Makers in the industry. The Company was started in 1912 in Tampa Fl. by Carlito's Grandfather Arturo. Through many hardships in which factories in Nicaragua were burned down by the Sandinista's and then moved to Honduras where it saw the same fate due to fire finally settled in The Dominican Republic after a brief stint back in Tampa Fl. He and Andy Garcia are very good friends and Carlito continues to be a Philanthropist with The Dominican Republic's less fortunate (see weblink to The Cigar Family Charitable Foundation). Carlos Fuente Jr. created in the mid 90's the first successful 100% Dominican cigar, the Opus X which he was told time and time again could not be done and it has continued to be the most sought after cigar in the world. He is a passionate man and positively affects by example the entire premium cigar industry with his continued innovative ideas and quality control. He has been a Mentor in the past to some of his up and coming competition in the cigar industry.
